Write a short note on Tri-partite treaty?
Ans. In 1837 A.D. Russia was fast
advancing to Asia. At that time the Treaty was signed among the Britishers,
Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Shah Shuja on June 26, 1838 to face the Russians.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh did not want to signed this treaty, but he compelled to
do so.

How many times did attack Maharaja Ranjit Singh on Malwa region?
Ans. Maharaja Ranjit Singh attacked
on the Malwa region twice. First, Doladhi village of Patiala on 26 July, 1806
A.D. He also took possession on Ludhiana, Jagraon and Talwandi etc. Second, in
1807 A.D. Rani Aus kaur invited Maharaja to Patiala. Both times Maharaja

What were the conditions of the Treaty of Amritsar?
Ans. The
conditions of the treaty of Amritsar were the following:
(1) The treaty of Amritsar was signed
between the British government and the state of Lahore.
(2) The state of Lahore bound itself
not to maintain in the territories more troops then were necessary for the
internal duties.
(3) Due to any dispute in both the
treaty would null and void.
(4) The treaty was to be signed on
April 25, 1809.
(5) The British agreed to have no
concern with the territories and subjects the Maharaja to the north of river
Satluj.
(6) Maharaja Ranjit Singh accepted the treaty of Amritsar.

Who was Jaswant Rao Holkar, why did Maharaja Ranjit Singh not help him?
Ans. Jaswant Rao Holkar was a Maratha
Sardar. The Britishers defeated him in 1805 A.D. after defeating, he came to
Punjab to seek Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s help against the Britishers. But
Maharaja Ranjit Singh did not agree to help him against the Britishers due to
these reasons;
(1) Maharaja Ranjit Singh was much
impressed to see the discipline of the British army.
(2) Maharaja Ranjit Singh did not to
convert Punjab into a battlefield.
(3) Gurmatas of Sikh Sardar at
Amritsar, also decided not to help Jaswant Rao Holkar due to loss of Punjab.

Write about the relations between the Britishers and the Sikhs from 1809 to
1839 A.D.?
Ans. Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the
Britishers signed the treaty of Amritsar in April 25, 1809.
(1) Despite the treaty of Amritsar,
the both distrust anssuspition cantinued between 1809 to 1812 AD.
(2) In 1822 A.D. the relation between
the British and Maharaja Ranjit Singh became strained over to the ownership of
village Wadni.
(3) When Maharaja Ranjit Singh fell ill, the Britishers sent to Dr. Murray for his treatment. Maharaja Ranjit Singh sent some gifts to the king of England.
(4) The area of Sikarpur was the
commercial and geographically important in 1836 AD. Question was raised on
Sikarpur.
(5) The Britishers also wanted to
control the Ferozpur. Which was important for Military point of view.
